curious Boxer
just finishing up the pineapples for the back of the Starlight Campground quilt.
sure thing big boy! mama’s hungry, too.
a very satisfying sewing day and pretty good progress this weekend on the quilt for my dad and stepmom. only 11 days until we leave, though, so I should probably be sandwiching and quilting by tuesday if I’m going to finish this in time for Road Trip 2012.
Those pineapples are 16” x 32” and really delightful. I spent some time today wondering if I could revamp the back with only four and keep two of them for myself, but I purposely chose six to represent me, my daughter, my sister, my niece, my dad and my stepmom.
the idea of them has been sitting in my head ever since I saw this on flickr.

Starlight Campground – 12 days to go…
top finished this morning. tried to finish last night… cut one star point block too small trying to push myself to finish “just one more” before bed. argh! went to bed after that and had no trouble finishing the last few stars this morning.
the top is 72 inches square, with around 25 different fabrics used. time to get started on the back now…

Really Random Thursday, Chicago Boat Party edition

thursday dinner on the coffee table, waiting for Project Runway to start… Gardein Vegan Lime Chipotle Chicken (hit with the teen daughter and both dogs, so you know it’s good to meat-eaters, too), crescent rolls with Earth Balance soy butter, canteloupe (2 for 1 at the grocery store, but 1 was totally not ripe – argh!) and an awesome salad with carrots, mushroom, cucumbers, avocado and sunflower seeds.
since last I participated in Live a Colorful Life’s Random Thursday, I got to enjoy my city via the annual company boat party. one of the attorneys has a small boat at a harbor downtown and each summer we leave the office and head to the marina for lunch, swimming, and a cruise.

and because this is random thursday – this is a building I see every day from my train stop – the mural changes every so often. I keep thinking this would be a great one for the backdrop of a quilt finish, but I’m pretty sure it’ll change before I have a finish, and it sort of goes with the water theme…

and, even more random, a new mug for my desk at work

WIP Wednesday
still hard at work on the stars for my dad’s quilt…
but I seem to like mixing projects, so I got going on my niece’s bowtie quilt, too.
which, I think, will end up being one of my all-time favorites. had all the fabric stacked up on the table and kept waffling on what design to use until I remembered this beautiful quilt by flossy bossy. I never realized how fab a bowtie quilt could be. It’s got an I Spy quality to it, and enough young fabrics that a 7 year old will like it, but (I hope) enough big girl fabrics that she can keep using it for a long time.
mermaids got put to the side, haven’t finished the bean’s One Direction pillows (or started her Union Jack quilt), still trying to make time to finish quilting my pickle dish…
linking up to freshly pieced’s WIP Wednesday :-)
