I’ve celebrated a birthday – a friend gave me this yummy cupcake, which I DID NOT share despite some suggestions otherwise…
and I finished my Fab Little Quilt Swap mini – though it was supposed to be mailed Friday. I hope my partner won’t mind that it’s a few days late. I know she’s waiting… and I’m waiting to see if she’ll like it. That’s the best and the worst part of making quilts for other people! :-)
my partner likes the low-volume trend, Denyse Schmidt, Heather Ross and plus quilts (which, I think, also goes with her spirituality). we had both liked this block from Live a Colorful Life, which obviously inspired the middle of my FLiQS. I was concerned about the color scheme, but it matches something new to her home, which she raved about, so I’m hopeful that this will be a happy addition to her mini collection.

still a zoo at my house. my couch is in constant need of de-furring. you can see why. the cat is still eating the dog food. Kodo seems to have decided its ok as long as she's eating from Tink's bowl and not his.
I've been hard at work on my mini-quilt for the Fab Little Quilt Swap. The top is done and I'm working on the back and label. I'm hoping the quilting will help the background recede a little so the end result is a little more serene. It's definitely a gamble. I've combined a lot of what my partner has favorited and pinterested, but it might be a bit noisy for her taste. I'm hoping she loves it. Personally I really like it and it's going to be hard to part with. I'm playing around with some sketches for a larger quilt based on this mini, possibly for my turn in Sew Buzzy. I'm thinking of using some Liberty of London fabrics. My month in that bee isn't until September, but the fabric is expensive so I've already started buying some. So far every piece has been much better in person than pictured online.
also started knitting. I guess it was only a matter of time. so far it's not as much fun as making quilts, but it's easier to watch Vampire Diaries while knitting. :-) I'm making an infinity scarf for the bean. found the pattern at ravelry (here). I'm not sure the bottom is supposed to look like that - but maybe it gets flatter and more square after "blocking". I had started with a different pattern, but had to find something a little easier after about 20 tries with the first pattern.this. how could I not?
